Strategy
We prefer a more concentrated portfolio at Manresa and invest with conviction at the earliest stages.
We typically only make 1-2 investments per quarter and this approach allows us to work closely with each founder we back. In almost all cases, we will be the lead investor or co-lead for the round.
We love consumer applications, enterprise software and new financial infrastructure. However, we will only invest in products targeted at the US market because we understand the regulatory landscape, competitive set and customer needs better in our home market. Jackson lives and works in San Francisco and we have companies based on the West Coast, East Coast, Midwest and Canada.

Gates
Jackson Gates is the Founder and Managing Partner of Manresa Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm focused on fintech, payments, e-commerce software and adjacent technologies.
Over the past 25 years, Jackson has built technology startups at all levels including: founder, CEO, executive and investor. As an operator Jackson served as VP of Strategic Partnerships & Corporate Development at Affirm following Affirm’s acquisition of the startup he founded, Sweep Inc. He was also on the early team at Pandora as VP of Business Development and Corporate Development through the company’s IPO in 2011.
Jackson started his career at Sun Microsystems and then became a young venture capitalist at Lehman Brothers Venture Partners and Vulcan Ventures, focusing most of his time on telecom equipment, optical components, semiconductors and enterprise software. He received his MBA from Stanford and his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University.
